Prince Kiweewa Nnyonyintono, a son of Ssekabaka Muteesa I, was installed as Kabaka in 1888 during one of the most turbulent years in Buganda's history, as Christian, Muslim, and traditionalist factions at court struggled for power following the deposition of his brother Mwanga II. His reign lasted only a matter of months before he too was deposed, in the same wave of upheaval that would see the throne change hands twice more before the decade was out.
