Daudi Chwa II, son of Mwanga II, was installed as Kabaka in 1897 as an infant, with a council of regents governing on his behalf. His reign spanned the formative decades of British colonial rule in Buganda, including the 1900 Buganda Agreement that shaped the kingdom's relationship with the colonial administration. He came of age to rule in his own right and reigned until his death in 1939, and is buried at the Kasubi Tombs.
